Niki works in two different disciplines, one being acrylic contemporary fine art on stretched canvas and the other black & white hyperrealism on paper. Her interest in working with acrylics was a recent one. In 2013 she noticed the market trend developing more towards contemporary, big, bright and bold and so her journey began in experimenting with colour. Apprenticing herself to be courageous & adventurous in her colour choice, & then to manipulate the colours to work together, was a particular challenge. Niki travels around the Western Cape with sketchbook and camera in hand visiting various locations and socialising with the local communities where she collects her material. Niki’s black & white hyperrealism crosshatch work can be found in private collections in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Germany and Japan, and has been seen in exhibitions in the United Kingdom, United States of America, South Africa & Zimbabwe. She works from her studio in Durbanville, Cape Town.
